Effective Project Planning Workshop (in house) The TCL Effective Project Planning Workshop tackles the issue of "why plan?" head on. Using SimulTrain® - the project management simulator – we throw delegates straight into running a project with no planning or preparation. For the next 20 minutes or so delegates struggle to get to the first project checkpoint allocating resources ‘on the fly’. At the checkpoint we draw out the lessons learned from not having a plan and draw up a list of requirements for effective planning. Having had a reality check – we then show the delegates how to meet those requirements. The workshop includes he following key elements: · Running without a plan (simulation) · Elements of Effective Project Planning · The planning process · Product vs. activity based planning · Levels of planning · Estimating techniques · Contingency · Scheduling and dependencies · Monitoring and control Last of all, delegates are given the chance to re-run the project simulation, but this time they have a plan….
